Those who haven't HAVE gone on to successfully finish their books after our three months together. They got everything they needed from this program, but worked at a slower pace that suited them better, so they needed more time.

So, you might finish your book in three months. You might not.

I realize that's not a very satisfying answer, but I'm all about being real here.

You know this. You know it depends how much work you've already done before coming into this program (you don't need to have done any, but some people have), and you know it depends how much time you can spend writing around your other commitments.

In my experience, when clients follow this process, they make MUCH faster progress than ever before. They're shocked at how fast they can write when we set them up for success in this very specific way.

So, you're smart. You know some people pound out books in just weeks (god knows how) and others take ten years, and the honest-but-lame answer is "it depends." But what does it depend on?

In my experience writing 16 books and coaching countless writers, the primary influencing factor is NOT how much time you have to write. I know that sounds like crazy talk, but here's why it's true:

The main factor determining how long your book takes to write is how clear you are on what you're writing. How well you understand the journey you're taking readers on. How confident you feel in the structure of your book.

Most people take forever to write or stall out completely because they're not sure what they're trying to do. They sit down at the computer and don't know where to start that day. They backtrack and dither. They re-read and re-write what they've already done and wander around the page with no direction, no get-up-and-go.

THAT is why I made the Roadmap integral to this program. It will guide you through the foundational elements from the beginning. Then, when you sit down to write, you know exactly what you're doing. Instead of dithering around, you spend that time putting real words on the page and getting closer to The End.

Once you have the Roadmap in place, then it becomes a numbers game. You time yourself writing for a few sessions and learn, for example, that you can write 500 words in 20 minutes.

A decent, modern memoir length is about 80,000 words. Sounds like a lot, but let's break it down.

• 80,000 words divided by 500 words a session equals 160 sessions.
• That means if you write for 20 minutes a day, you will finish your draft in 160 days.

Yes, you'll want to do edits after, but you will hold a finished draft in your hands in less than six months. Amazing, right?!

The big caveat is that you must have those foundational elements in place first. Otherwise you spend those 20 minutes rattling around without writing.

But with the right plan, you can do this in less time than you think. The great news? We create that plan inside The Write and Edit Accelerator.

We don't let it get that far. I promise.

We start with a consult call where we chat about your book idea. This lets me get a sense of whether I'm the right person to help you (I'm not always, and that's okay), and whether you like my coaching style (not everyone does, and that's okay too).

We only move ahead if we both feel excited about this.

Then, we review the coaching agreement. This is a contract that ensures we're both on the same page and know what to expect from working together. It's another chance for you to feel me out and make sure you like what you're seeing.

If you're comfortable with that, you pay your first invoice to secure your spot, and we move ahead.

If, at any time, things aren't working out, we talk. We're flexible and we figure things out.

I don't offer refunds for amounts already paid, as I put a lot of time and energy into working with my clients.

But I've never had a situation with a client that we couldn't work out. (I'm a pretty nice person, if I say so myself. And I want you to be happy.)

This is private, one-on-one work, so we can start at any time.

When we have our initial consult call, we'll talk dates and decide what works for both of us.

Our three months starts with our first official coaching call. We aim for one call and one editing submission every two weeks. We're flexible, though, and you'll be able to choose your time slots in my schedule and change them from session to session if needed.

We can also block out time if either of us is going on vacation, or for holidays such as Christmas. That way, you don't lose any time and get to make the most of our coaching around your life commitments.

Basically, we're pretty flexible.
